I am a Breast Cancer survivor saved because of a breast exam and mammogram provided through a grant, so I know the importance of grants. I simply couldn't afford either and was found to have stage 2 by the time I was seen. Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, I was poor/low income no matter how hard I worked and much,much sicker than I realized. Because I know I would be dead but for the grace of a grant funded breast exam/mammogram, I will never support the Komen foundation again and will encourage all others to support Planned Parenthood and groups that truly care for, and with, the poor.
