Despite a general uneasiness with some of Komen's practices of legal threats against other non-profits, my wife and I overlooked this (in retrospect, this was foolish on our part I suppose) and regularly donated our time and money directly to Komen. Komen's decision to withdraw funding for breast and cervical cancer exams through Planned Parenthood, especially since Komen once identified Planned Parenthood as one of the only organizations who could reach the women in need of such medical services, is tragic. It stinks of bending to the demands of a few strident and misguided voices at the expense of their own mission statement. We will never again support this organization, either with our money, our time, or with any of the product we purchase. Instead, we'll be donating directly to Planned Parenthood and avoiding any product which has licensed any intellectual property from Komen. This decision is appalling and Komen should be ashamed.
