Review for In-Sync Exotics, Inc., Wylie, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The exotic cats at In-Sync are so loved and cared for by the staff and volunteers. I have been impressed by the high standards Vicky Keahey sets for the care of these beautiful cats and some of the stories of rehabilitation from the horrid conditions they were rescued from are remarkable. Lions and tigers on the edge of death have been restored to health and look so beautiful, you would never know they were so hurt and neglected by their previous owners. The sweet "chuffs" and happy sounds they make when we clean cages are obvious signs that they are happy cats enjoying a much better life than they had previously. They love enrichment time and look like kittens as they roll around and explore new scents and taste new treats. As a volunteer, I can tell you it is a hard day's work and no one works as hard as Vicky all day, every day to provide these cats a happy, healthy life. This facility is not easily found unless you are looking for it so I'm sure spreading the word to receive all important donations for the care of these animals is difficult and time consuming. I can also tell that every penny they receive is put toward making a better lives for these cats - nothing goes to waste at In-Sync. I have worked many years in dog and cat rescue and never even seen a rescue facility run so efficiently.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing these wild cats play and make "happy sounds". They have comfortable cages with warm dens and toys, as well as an outdoor playground they take turns playing in every day.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nothing - they just need more money to continue their good work.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

Definitely

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

Life-changing

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Very Well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Definitely

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2012

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

Nothing - volunteering here is hard work, but so worth it. It is amazing that they run completely off volunteers and donations.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Always meeting new and caring people willing to give their time and hard work to these animals. Everyone here is willing to teach the volunteers and visitors about these cats and I have learned a lot about wild cats working here.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Amazing. Just being close to the beautiful creatures is wonderful, but seeing how happy and loved they are makes every volunteer day a great experience.

Role:  Volunteer & Cleaned cages and prepared food.
