The story behind Andy’s care package - - -
Josh had been receiving care packages for a couple of months. But, when he went to pick up his boxes, he noticed one of the guys in his unit never went to mail call, never even received a letter. He had a buddy in the military post office so he asked him about Andy. The buddy said, “Yeah, he’s not gotten any mail in the 8 months we’ve been here”.
Josh contacted the Hugs Project to ask if his next box could be sent to Andy instead. He asked them to keep it anonymous and for them not to tell where they got his name.
Josh got an email when the mailman picked up the boxes (of course, Josh also got one!). “It’s on it’s way. Let us know how it turns out”. About a month later, a big surprise….

We haven't forgotten how good you made us feel when we got care packages of cool ties, hygiene stuff, food, letters and even homemade goodies.
4 deployments and you took care of us every time. We emailed you about a unit from Texas that needed everything after all their tents burned down. Your care packages were what they lived on for a few days until the Army caught up to them. Those guys couldn't believe a group of Marines and some strangers in OKlahoma came through for them.
That was fun!! Thanks for always being there for us. By the way, I'm out of the service now. I'll be bring my kids in to help pack Christmas boxes this year.

The Gals in my unit were thrilled anytime we got a box from TheHugsProject. We never knew what to expect inside. They sent lots of great food, letters, fun stuff, toe nail polish ( yes, we had some ladies in our group and it's fun to please the girls), games, DVD's, socks, hair gel, etc.
We were never more excited than when we got a HUGS box. keep up the good work. We're not all home yet.

I just want to say THANK YOU to The Hugs Project for making meknow that someone back home loves me and respects the job I've been called upon to do for my county. They couldn't have a higher rating in my book. Is 5 as high as I can go? I want rate them even higher than that. How about a 100 plus? Can I do that? LCpl Justin Manford USMC currently deployed

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
lifting the spirits of THOUSAND of American troops who serve in the Middle East. When we say thank you, they reply, "No need, it's just our thanks to you". They call us heroes but THEY are the heroes. We couldn't do the job 'over there' without them.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being able to share all my boxes with my buddies. When I tell them someone isn't getting any support from his own family, they adopt him out and he doesn't feel alone after that.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
well, I've never met any of them - we're total strangers and isn't that an amazing thing? I am blown away that they want to help people they will never meet.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
continue save the lives of America's military force by continuing to provide thousands of cooling ties (they call them 'hugs') that reduce body core temps by 5+ degrees. No one need die of heat stroke.
