Review for Second Chance Center For Animals, Flagstaff, AZ, USA
I loved working at Second Chance Center for Animals, for several reasons. One, all of the people, staff and volunteers alike, were just wonderful. I had previously volunteered at several other shelters at which the staff was either rude or ignorant of volunteers, which made me feel unwanted. But at Second Chance, they were friendly enough to ask how I was doing, who I was working with, how things were going, etc., and to help out. Another reason I enjoyed Second Chance so much was because of the facility. The dogs get to be outside during the day, rather than in concrete holding pens like many other facilities. The cats are allowed out for different amounts of time, and get to roam the large cat room and play with each other, and even have an outside area accessible by kitty doors! This is the first time I have seen a facility let cats roam freely during adoption hours, and it makes quite a difference. The cats are so much happier, and I personally felt better about helping a shelter that cares about making their animals happy. It is obvious from day one of volunteering that Second Chance is a very caring and responsible place that treats their animals well and is quite successful with adoptions.
