Review for Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, Tallahassee, FL, USA
I would like to write a short review on the incredible work the Deaf Family Literacy Academy has done, is doing and hopefully will continue to be supported in doing. This organization fills a critical gap in services for our deaf and hard of hearing children. I have been honored to do some trainings and workshops for their mentors and parent groups. The feedback is always the same. Parents are absolutely thrilled with the resources, activities and real support they receive from the DFLA. I am continually amazed at the level of service they provide and the opportunities they extend to their participants. It is a pleasure to watch the growth and impact this group has on the well-being and literacy development of the DHH child. Their workers are a group of serious minded, whole- heartedly committed professionals who believe in the innate abilities of the DHH child and seek to bring literacy to them in tangible ways where traditional avenues have failed. Thank you for funding this academy! You have no idea the far-reaching influence it has on the overall development of the children, their families and society.
