Review for Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA
I have been a supporter and volunteer at the Conservators' Center (CCI) since 2004. "Can do" is the attitude that pervades the whole place. We aren't about pretty, and we sure aren't financially secure, but if an animal is in need, the job WILL get done. A story will explain it best. About a year ago, a private zoo in Florida was shut down. The authorities found new homes for many of the animals. Finally, three tigers were left. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has called on us before, and once again Mindy got the call. "Can you find a home for these three cats." Mindy has a network of friends, and convinced Joe to take two of them. The last one was known to be a "bad" tiger, hated everyone, and had done harm in the past. A judge ordered that this cat be put to death. We had one cage that was to provide a larger space for some lions, but this was an emergency. After a phone call, the judge's order somehow was not delivered. The two founders and two volunteers drove to Florida and brought Tonka home. Today Tonka, this 'bad" tiger is happy and friendly, in a nice cage with a girl friend. He will live out the rest of his life here.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing animals become happy and healthy, due to the excellent care provided.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the chance to have close contact with a variety of exotic animals.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
dedicated, hard working, and supportive of anyone willing to help.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
build the facilities and hire the staff to care for at least another 100 animals. Also expand it's international training program for sanctuary management, the in-school wildlife education program, and the captive breeding program for certain species not
Ways to make it better...
the staff had time to provide more training.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the funding needed to grow.
