Review for Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, Tallahassee, FL, USA
Residents of Lake Wales, Florida, one of the poorest communities in our country, have been significanlty impacted because of the belief, foresight, and generosity of Volunteer USA Foundation, Inc. These are individuals who otherwise would have been left behind but because of their persiistance and belief over the past several years, their unwaivering support of the local Family Literacy Initiative has resulted in an extraordinary number of GED graduates. But the story is more then just the GED graduates. A former graduate has since graduated from our local state college which has spawned a real and growing belief from others in the program that a better future is possible not only for themselves but their families. All of this would not be possible if it were not for VUSA.

Program like the Lake Wales Family Literacy could be modeled and these dollars could be significantly leveraged to duplicate elsewhere.
