My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Society of St. Andrew, Big Island, VA, USA
I got involved with SoSA through Northland Church when I signed up for the Backyard Citrus Drive in 2009 to glean my mother's tangerine tree. They came back in 2010 and as long as the tree keeps producing I will keep it on the list. SoSA also partners with Second Harvest Food Bank where I also volunteer occasionally. I have volunteered with SoSA to help glean cabbage in the fields near Zellwood and to sort and bag cucumbers at the Second Harvest warehouse. It is such a great thing that SoSA does, developing rapports with nearby farmers and to have them donate a small part of their harvest to help feed those in need of food. It is hard physical labor most of the time, but I'm sure they would tell you that the reward is well worth it. I plan to continue to volunteer, though not as frequently as I should be. I am so thankful that we have organizations such as SoSA especially in today's economy. I shudder to think how our local communities would be without them. God bless SoSA.
