Review for Young Life, Colorado Springs, CO, USA
I first learned about Young Life in 1972. The leaders were friendly, and reached out to me- a new student in a big public high school. I got to go to camp- which was an amazing week, the best of my life. It has made all the difference in the many years that have followed because knowing God made that difference- in who I became, the choices I have made, and 3 boys I have raised. I have been giving back to Young Life the past 4 years by being involved as a Committee/board member- and get great satisfaction all over again in seeing kids like me make decisions to connect with God and live life to the fullest.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my personal life- it has changed me! in the lives of my kids- they have been positively impacted.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
strengthen ties with parents- communication can always be better. Am now working to get more volunteers to expand
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
unconditional love, acceptance, time spent by college age leaders with me listening ear
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Amazing youth leaders who gave much time, and willing to be with kids
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Reach urban areas that don't have the money to start there otherwise- expand to more groups for young teen moms, and outreach to special needs kids.
Ways to make it better...
I had stuck with my original commitments, and allowed them to guide me (likely a universal problem with teens).
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
current economic climate- hard for people to support
One thing I'd also say is that...
This organization spends very little on overhead, they get the money to s-t-r-e-t-c-h a long way because it is mostly volunteers.
