Review for Camp Quality Michigan, Boyne City, MI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I'm a widowed mom whose only child just finished 3 1/2 years of chemotherapy. Camp Quality has been invaluable to both my son & me. Their summer camp for cancer kids not only gives the kids a great experience, but provides respite for parents, knowing that our kids are OK w/proper medical oversight, while we get much-needed time to tend to other pressing matters (including an occassional nap!).

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

having respite during Kids' Camp week, and enjoying family events w/other families stricken w/childhood cancer.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide it w/ an endowment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being able to escape now & then the gloom of childhood cancer, including respite.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

concerned, caring, efficient, and many have somehow also been touched by childhood catastrophic illnesses, including death.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide a lot more families w/ a lot more care.

Ways to make it better...

Camp Quality had more funds to enable all kids/families to participate in their camps & events, all of which are provided to us free of charge.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial.

One thing I'd also say is that...

my son & I are very lucky to have learned about CQ through another leukemia mom.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Client Served & My son received services as a leukemia patient - he has gone to summer camp at Camp Quality for 3 years in a row. Plus, we have attended wonderful family events through CQ. All camps & events have been free of charge, and distractions from the nightmare.
