Review for Homefront Hugs Foundation, Inc., Clark, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

It has been my privilege to be part of Homefront Hugs for many years. Alessandra Kellermann and her son, Ed were always such great role models in their dedication to supporting our troops and their families.Because of this, I started out as a volunteer and adopted several troop members and a couple of families who had loved ones stationed overseas. I have made some lifelong friendships with these troops/families well after their return from deployment and even after they have left the service. My own son who served both in Iraq and Afghanistan received packages from this organization. I have a interesting story about my son who had just graduated boot camp and was trying to get his bearings at his new base when a Sargent approached him and asked if his mother was part of Homefront Hugs. (My son and I share an unusual name) and this young man told him that I had sent him many packages during his deployment and he shared how much he appreciated the support ....suddenly my son had a new contact to ease his transition into the new base.

Review for Homefront Hugs Foundation, Inc., Clark, NJ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is a great organization! Alessandra Kellermann, Homefront Hugs President is a wonderful role model as to putting your money and time where you heart is. Each time one of us can put a smile on the face of one of our troops and and/or their families we are blessed as are they! Not every service member has a family to support and care while they are deployed but HFH allows us to adopt and share our support! As an Army mom myself of a service member I am so pleased this organization allows me and others to "mother/befriend" these hard working guys and gals! It is an organization that is well run and true to its vision and goals of supporting our US military personnel.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have made friends with several service personnel and their families that really "puts a face" on these courageous young men and women. It has allowed me to get friends and co-workers mobilized to support as well!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do exactly what they do now. N0o changes!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Meeting through mail/email these great troops and being able to "give back" in some small measure my appreciation for what they do and show appreciation for the sacrifices they make daily for our country!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Excellent, caring and giving!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make sure that every single service man and woman would know and feel the appreciation we owe each and everyone of these troops and their families for the daily sacrafices they make for a safer more free world.

Ways to make it better...

I had found them sooner!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The tight economy has made it more challenging to get volunteers and monetary support.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Alessandra Kellermann and all the fine service men and women are my HEROES!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I have adopted numerous troops and have sent care packages as well as notes of support and encouragement.

Thank you so much for your positive comments and being part of our charity and the difference we make together every single day .
