Review for Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, Tallahassee, FL, USA
This organization has worked to create community and school partnerships throughout the country. For our small county in Highlands County, Florida, VFUSA has helped over 60 children increase their reading skills while building better character. Many of our teenagers have gone on to college and continued to mentor in some capacity. Last year several of our mentees began to bring library books they had checked out on their own to share with their mentors. These are kids who did not even want to read with us at the beginning of the year. It is our pleasure to continue working with VFUSA as they strive each year to create better citizens in all of our communities.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the change I see in my high school students. They go from thinking about only themselves to thinking about their mentee. They commit to show up each week to improve the life of someone who they know looks up to them.
