Review for The Voice of the Martyrs, Inc., Bartlesville, OK, USA
I am sad to see VOM has not received a higher rating. This is a truly unique charity as it focuses in on an unplatable and fairly unmarketable need - providing relief for people persecuted for their Christian faith throughout the world.
Many people may not realise just how many Christians are tortured, imprisoned and persecuted throughout the world on a daily basis. VOM works to be the 'voice' of these people and their families. It lobbies governments for prisoner release, provides financial aid to the victims of persecution, and to their families, and works tirelessly to raise awareness for the plight of persecuted Christians worldwide.
Perhaps its rather unsual name is off-putting. But it is the right name. Hundreds of Christian lives are martyred daily throughout the world.
Our family has supported VOM for many years. We rate their work highly, and will continue to support them no matter what their rating here. They are a real charity, making a real difference.

Figure out a way to make more money and to heighten awareness. Of course, they do this already, but much of their focus is on the work they do rather than on raising awareness. Raised awareness is very important at this time.
Review for Christian Blind Mission International Inc, Washington, DC, USA
CBM use a huge team of volunteers including hundreds of medical professionals to discover and treat the blind, and those with other disabilities in third world countries.
They do thousands of operations per year in dozens of countries, literally restoring sight and ability to the disabled.
Our family has supported CBM financially for many years, and cannot speak highly enough of their integrity or commitment.
Their communications are also encouraging, warm and to the point.
This is also a deeply committed Christian charity, that understands the key messages of the gospel.

Perhaps work harder to increase revenue. The more money this wonderful charity receives, the better.
Review for ChildFund International, Richmond, VA, USA
My husband and I have four sponsored children through ChildFund. Like many, we did not like the name change from CCF to ChildFund. However, we would never considering withdrawing sponsorship on the basis of a name change!
We consider the work of ChildFund to be sincere and exemplary. This charity works hard to make a difference, and they do make a difference.
Their communications are very, very good. The flow of information and contact between donors and sponsored children is excellent.
Only one negative really: on the fundraising front, they spend a lot of energy approaching existing donors to donate even further. We can understand this: existing donors have already 'bought in' to the philosophies and philanthropy of this type of giving. However, it is emotionally wearying to have sad letter after sad letter turn up in the mailbox, outlining further tragedies requiring action. Particualrly when you already donote regularly, and have several sponsored children.
We would prefer to see ChildFund direct the majority of their fundraising energy towards signing up new first-time donors. Much harder, and admittedly expensive - but this type of growth is essential.

ease back on the fundraising letters going out to existing donors and redirect energy into signing up new donors.
