I am currently concerned about rural education in India. There is a growing gap between the quality of urban education and rural education in up and coming economies. All the focus is on urban education. How can rural students compete? I am currently volunteering with the Nanubhai Education Foundation. I am really pleased and impressed by this organization. Their mission is to improve rural education in India by empowering rural Indian students through English language proficiency.

I am thoroughly impressed by their commitment and dedication. Since 2004, Nanubhai Education Foundation has worked to improve rural education in India by helping rural students, not only improving English, but with IT/software skills as well.

They also have a fellowship program that sends American trained educators to teach. lead trainings and conduct research in India. Fellows work with local principles to establish before and after school programs.

All the while, fellows are encouraged to Blog about their experiences, and most of them are very uplifting. I think this is a great charity and does not get enough attention. I wish more people knew about the great work they do to improve rural education in India. If you are so inclined, you can even sponsor a child in India with the Nanubhai Education Foundation.
