Review for Parents Education Network, San Francisco, CA, USA
This is the 3rd year my daughter has been involved in SAFE Voices.SAFE, as she describes it, is not a support group; it is an advocacy organization for middle school and high school students who have LD issues. Through their work, the organization and its members do provide support for these students in ways that we, as parents, cannot do. It has been an invaluable experience for her and has helped her gain confidence by being on speaking panel, and organizational skills as she becomes increasingly involved in SAFE's activities. While she never felt that she had any problems with acknowledging her LD issues, it is only since she has been at SAFE that she has grown truly comfortable with her LD. Though initially I had to fight to get her to go, she now says that she wishes she had started earlier. I am so pleased to see her take on the responsibilities she gets from SAFE. I highly recommend this organization for any middle or high school student with LD issues.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would do more outreach and meet more frequently so that they could have more, tangible results to point to. They have written a book and done a video but that was several years ago. Recently, their output has been less tangible.
