Review for Inlet Dance Theatre, Cleveland Heights, OH, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am related to one of the company members and understand their philosophy of "using dance to further people". The kids who you see in their Summer Dance Intensive concert are just full of life and love the company members, and thrive on the respect and care they receive during this program. The focus is on building up the esteem, skill and character of each and every dancer involved. The themes of the dances are moving and thought provoking and examine our lives in our world today.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching performances and talking with company members and director

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find a way that they could all afford medical and dental coverage and work at dance full time.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

experiencing the transcendent in their work

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, gifted, energetic and humble

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand its mission of growing people through dance to new and existing dance companies, and the dancers could dedicate full time and stay healthy because they would not have to work a second job to survive

Ways to make it better...

I did not have to travel so far - it's only an hour and a half away, but I wish they were closer.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the energy drain from having to work another job to survive. They encourage one another, but creativity is at a risk when you have to be a "starving artist".

One thing I'd also say is that...

Every single one of the people I have met involved in this program, whether member of the company or student, admires the leadership, creative gifts, dedication and passion of the Artistic Director, Bill Wade.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  General Member of the Public & Go to as many performances as I can.
