Review for Genesis Zoological Center Inc, Auburndale, FL, USA
I've been volunteering for Genesis Zoological for over 2 years now and it has been an amazing experience! What this facility does is twofold: 1) they take in hundreds of injured and/or orphaned native wildlife that people drop off every year and rehabilitate and release as many of them as they can. Any that can't be released have a permanent home at the sanctuary. A perfect example of this would be Keeya, our red shouldered hawk. She was hit by a car and is missing most of her right wing, so she is a permanent resident.
2) they take in exotic animals that don't have any other place to go, whether they came from breeding facilities that didn't want them anymore or from facilities that had to close down, and give them a permanent place to call home as well.
The facility itself is very small but also very clean. Everyone who helps take care of the place is a volunteer; no one gets paid. It is entirely run off of the donations we get throughout the year, and you would be amazed at how much we can do with so little! When you visit you can expect to see animals ranging from raccoons to Siberian tigers, and know that you helped to make a huge difference in their lives!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing the rehabilitation and release work that is done and also helping to provide a safe, clean and loving place for those animals that can't be released.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
provide them with a lot more funding so they can expand their rehabilitation program; they do such good work!!!
