Review for Rainforest Partnership, Austin, TX, USA

Rating: 4 stars

My name is Jordan Erdos and I am a co-founder and board member of Rainforest Partnership. When we decided to start up a new, international environmental non-profit in 2007, we knew we wanted to do things differently from the very respectable groups that are already out there. In the short time we have been around, we have already made great progress on a project in Chipaota, Peru, and have received a tremendous amount of support via in-kind contributions and pro-bono work from similar-minded citizens. Please visit our web site at http://www.rainforestpartnership.org and check us out on Facebook. It is through participation, not just contributions, that we can really work together to raise awareness about the role forests play in regulating the global climate.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my visit to Chipaota, the Quechua community in Peru with which we have been working. The people of Chipaota are very excited about the piassaba management plan we have been working with them to complete and they have hope for more financial stability.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

It is too early in this organization's existence to consider the necessary changes.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working to build an organization that truly incorporates a bottom-up approach to project development, in collaboration with the communities with which we work.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The most dedicated people I've known.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Really make a difference in saving the world's forests and addressing global climate change.

Ways to make it better...

There were more money available to move projects along through the pipeline faster.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Fundraising and risk management.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Everyone should get involved!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
