When my brother, my hero, SSG Matthew Pucino, 20th SF Green Beret was KIA 23NOV09 our lives changed forever. Until then, we never fully understand the meaning of pain, loss and being a Gold Star Family. I can honestly say there are very few organizations that have come along side our family to aide and support us. The Green Beret Foundation is one of them. Since then, the Green Beret Foundation has been an immeasurable support to our family. From correspondence that lets us know we are not alone to financially aiding our family to events that honor Matthew and his ultimate sacrifice. Following Matthew’s death and attending a Green Beret Foundation event has opened our eyes to the needs of the wounded Green Berets. We have started the SSG Matthew A. Pucino Memorial Foundation, not only to honor Matthew’s name and sacrifice, but to financially support the Green Beret Foundation. After meeting some of our wounded Green Beret Heroes that have sacrificed a normal way of life so that we can live free, we hope that the small amounts that we can contribute will alter their lives for the better and that they realize how much we care about them and appreciate their sacrifices.
