Review for Animal Compassion Team of California, Squaw Valley, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first learned about ACT through volunteering with some of ACT's founders. I was amazed by their drive, commitment, and passion for helping the valley's homeless animals. I quickly saw the limits of what I could do as a volunteer in the high kill shelter I was fostering/volunteering in at the time, but I was eager to help the valley's animals. I started volunteering with ACT as they were working to open their first adoption center in the Sierra Vista Mall. I quickly realized I was on the right team- the knowledge, dedication, heart, and vision was apparent from the start. Since then I have become a foster, volunteer, board member, and the volunteer coordinator for ACT. I am happy to say that over 1700 animals have found new homes through ACT over the past two years. Most of these animals were scheduled to be euthanized at local shelters, and are now living wonderful lives in loving homes. ACT set out to be more then an adoption center though and is continuing to work on education, pet retention, and TNR. We have BIG dreams, and many more ideas for the future. ACT is an organization that I am proud to be a part of and feel lucky to have found.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

finding a cause/organization I believe in/support 110%, seeing animals lives changed, volunteering, fostering, and much more. I also have a wonderful dog, my foster failure, who was a demodex puppy that was scheduled to be killed at the local shelter, and now is a sweet healthy girl that I can't imagine my life without.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

There is always lots of room to grow and improve. One of the main way is in improving funding sources for programs to benefit the valley's animals. Another major dream is to eventually have our own property.

Role:  Board Member & Volunteer, foster, adopter, board member, volunteer coordinator.
