Review for Animal Compassion Team of California, Squaw Valley, CA, USA
ACT is a grass-roots non profit that started with a few people wanting to help animals in need. I have watched it grow, become official as a non-profit organization and blossom. I have been fortunate to be able to volunteer in a few small ways. On a rare day off several months ago, I read a post on Facebook that ACT needed a driver to take 2 Dalmations to a rescue organization in Turlock specifically for Dalmations. I called and said that I was available. I met Brenda, the volunteer coordinator for ACT at the house of a man I didn't know. He was surrendering these 2 dogs in hopes of giving them better homes. The dogs were unsocialized, untrained, hadn't ever been on leashes, and very wary of us. This was my first experience helping any animal in this way. It was heartbreaking to see the man give them up, but, heartwarming knowing they would get the care they truly needed. With Brenda and her daughter's help, we loaded them into my small SUV and I drove my precious cargo from Fresno to the meeting point in Turlock. The woman from the Dalmation rescue was waiting, and it was a bit challenging to transfer them to her vehicle. They were scared but she knew how to handle it. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience for me to be able to help transport these dogs. I hope to be able to volunteer more in the future at this wonderful organization!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my daily life. I follow this organization on Facebook and repost information to spread the word about ACT.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Find someone who would joyfully donate money and resources to build ACT it's very own facility. They have struggled to find locations to have their adoption days. A locally owned petshop is now sponsoring their adoption days, but having their own facility would help in saving even more animals than they already do!
