Review for Music Is Extraordinary Inc, Oakland, CA, USA
"The Conservatory is an excellent resource for all members of our community. It is truly incredible. My 15 year old son thinks of it as his second home. He is having up close and personal experiences and mentoring relationships with jazz greats there, and is becoming an exceptional drummer. It enriches our lives tremendously!" -Georgia Webb, parent

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the young people it serves. They sparkle when they develop talent. They become more focused and productive in other areas of their lives.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Seek more funding (grants, endowment, gifts)to ensure longevity of the organization. As a result, I would secure the infrastructure and management.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
watching young beginning and inexperienced musicians grow their talent. It's a joy to see their passions awakened and their dedication to developing their skills. When they perform, it's magical! I also enjoy the impact OPC is having on Oakland and Bay
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
extremely passionate, talented and dedicated. They give over and above what can be expected of an organization without the means to compensate them. Their value what they are giving and find fulfillment in helping others grow.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Pay its staff and provide health and retirment benefits; Secure a state of the art facility; hire more staff; offer more learning and performing opportunities; offer scholarships; inspire a community of people to thrive through the development of talent.
Ways to make it better...
the organization had more fiscal and inkind support. It has so much potential to enhance the lives of children, youth and adults in Oakland and the Bay Area; those who come florish. Resources are needed to provide more stability to infrastructure.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Fiscal resources.
One thing I'd also say is that...
This organization is making positive change in Oakland/Bay Area. Watching inner-city children and youth learn to play jazz and classical music from the masters is incredibly powerful. I've seen bored, unfocused youth become passionate, eager learners
