Review for Last Chance Ranch, Quakertown, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We adopted our dog, Nellie, from LCR. Nellie is a hound/collie mix and she came up from the south in a van full of other dogs that had been abandoned on the streets of Phildelphia. Nellie had heartworm when they took her out of the Phila. SPCA and advised us of the condition before we adopted. When we opted to have the treatments to kill the worms they supplied the vaccine to our vet for Nellie's treatments. One year later Nellie is fine and a wonderful companion. LCR will also give you any kind of training tips that you ask for and they continue to monitor you and your pet to make sure that everthing is working out.

LCR is a wonderful organization that is run by hundreds of volunteers. These people take in all kinds of animals - dogs, cats, ostriches, rabbits, horses - any animal that needs a home. Many animals are just dumped on the grounds and left. It doesn't matter, they take them in. They also give them all the medical attention they need. If it is more than they can afford they start campaigns for the needy animals. If an owner can't afford treatment for their pet they will see if they can find a vet who take a reduced rate and help in any way they can.

I really can't say enough about LCR. This a true haven for needy and abused animals. If you have the time drop in on them and see it for yourself or attend one of the many dogwalks or other activities they organize to raise funds for the animals. You will be amazed.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Through the LCR news letter I learned of a dog who had severe kidney problems and needed several surgeries just to stay alive. The owner could not afford them and LCR started a campaign so the dog woudl get the critical medical care he needed. Obi is doing fine and is finally able to eat!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I really can't think of a change I would make. Everyone there is warm and wonderful and will do anything it takes to help these animals.
