Review for Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, Arlington, VA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Lost Dog and Cat Rescue is an all-breed rescue group. They primarily intake animals from rural shelters where adoption is unlikely and where euthanization methods are not necessarily humane. Lost Dog has a number of adoptions events each weekend where typically at 40-50 animals are placed in loving homes. At the adoption events, the dogs not only have a chance to be picked to go to a new, permanent home but also get some one-on-one socialization with the volunteer who is handling them at the event. One of the great things about the organization is that it is structured to allow volunteers to manage their commitment to a level they can handle while still giving them an opportunity to make a difference in an animal's life.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have four dogs that I have permanently adoption from Lost Dog. My initial contact with the organization was to adopt a dog and then I fell in love with two of my fosters and adopted them as well.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Work to get train more adoption counselors so that it is easier to get additional opionions on the suitability of homes.

Role:  Volunteer & I am a foster for older or sick animals and I help with paperwork at the adoption events.
