Review for The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg, CO, USA
I first heard of TWAS through my mom who volunteers at an exotic cat sanctuary in Wylie, TX. She came to Denver to visit me and suggested we go see it. I was immediately enthralled and impressed by the place and after a couple more visits decided I had to get involved and volunteer. I've never been happier. From trudging through 2 feet of snow in sub-zero temperatures with buckets of hot water to thaw the roundhouse tigers drinking water, to picking weeds in the summer heat, to helping feed 1000 lb. grizzlies, and getting bloody preparing hundreds of pounds of raw meat, every day is an adventure. This place is so well run through hard work, love, and dedication it never ceases to amaze me. The animals here can be "wild" in their large habitats, and while they all would certainly be better off being truly out in the wilds, this is the next best thing. Seeing Chase go from being a scared, distrustful tiger to one that greets you with a loving chuff (especially if you have some chicken) is just one example of the incredible good things TWAS does for these magnificent creatures. Pat has created a wonderful place that nearly 300 rescued animals call their loving home. As a volunteer I am thanked every day I'm there, but I would like to thank TWAS (particularly Becca, Shiloh, Teresa, and Tawny) for the experiences you've provided me. It has changed my life!

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
It's had a tremendous effect on me. Just being around these animals and the dedicated staff and volunteers is inspiring.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
It has made me feel wonderful (sometimes tired after a hard day!) There's nothing quite like having big cats chuff and rub up against their fence to say hi to you, or to play hide-n-seek with you from behind their water tank (love ya Ricky!!)

Review for In-Sync Exotics, Inc., Wylie, TX, USA
I first discovered In-Sync exotics through my mother and sisters who volunteer there. Mom lives very close to it and whenever I visit from Colorado going there is the first thing I want to do. I've always been an animal lover but didn't realize the severity of the captive wildlife crisis until being educated about it at In-Sync. Seeing first hand how loved and cared for these magnificent creatures are affected me greatly. The horror stories that many of these animals suffer through prior to receiving a wonderful home like In-Sync really makes you appreciate all the hard work and dedication that goes into the rescue and care of them. In fact, In-Sync so impressed me that I have been volunteering at a large, non-profit wild animal sanctuary in Colorado for almost a year now and couldn't be happier. It is very comforting to know that, while these animals would most certainly be better off still being out in the wilds, the ones in need of rescue have places like In-Sync that will take them in with loving arms and provide them a safe and nurturing home.
