Review for Animal Welfare League of Alexandria Virginia Incorporated, Alexandria, VA, USA
This is my local resuce, and I am proud to volunteer there. Their volunteer program is incredibly well run, and has a vast array of projects and areas to volunteer in.

The shelter's great Training and Behavior Department Chair impacts operations of the whole shelter in such a positive way, trying to find ways to make sure that the animals have the best experience possible while waiting for thier adopters to find them.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Raise enough money to give them their own indoor/outdoor training facility!
Review for A Forever-Home Rescue Foundation, Inc., Chantilly, VA, USA
Three years ago, I adopted my beloved Sophie from A Forever Home. I didn't know much about rescues then. Years later, as my practice moved towards animal law, I had the chance to work with A Forever Home as a client. I could not have been more proud to see that the rescue Sophie came from was so well put together and professional, and so dedicated to animal welfare. A Forever Home does not just focus on local welfare needs. They have been one of the few rescues called upon for aid in puppy mill busts and disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and have been right there to save the animals!

When confronted with a neglect and hoarding situation in rural Virginia, A Forever Home sprung to action. Not only did volunteers and the upper administration get involved personally, the organization rescued the one dog who was in the worst condition of all the dogs who were victims in the animal hoarder's situation. She is now thriving in her foster/forever home.

I can't say I'd change much about it!
Review for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue Incorporated, Fairfax Sta, VA, USA
I'm proud to serve on the Board of this wonderful rescue. Homeward Trails manages not only to rescue hundreds of companion animals a year, but also steps in when animal cruelty, neglect or hoarding threatens the lives of companion animals. Homeward Trails implements innovative and creative ways to fundraise and administer the organization, and has a fantastic network of volunteers and fosters.

I worked hand-in-hand with Homeward Trails and other rescues and individuals to break up an animal hoarding situation and help with the conviction of the woman who had kept hundreds of companion animals on her property.

I can't think of much I would change!
