Review for In-Sync Exotics, Inc., Wylie, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When we moved into our new house across the lake from Wylie, I thought my husband was going nuts when he told me he was hearing the quiet roar of lions in the evening. Determined to prove him wrong, I went online and found In-Sync Exotics just a few miles away from us- we had to check it out! After church one Sunday, my husband, our four young kids and I loaded up in the van and set out on an adventure.

Upon arrival at In-Sync, we were pleasantly surprised by the nice gift shop and clean restroom. The entry fee was a little high, but considering all they do for these large cats, it was worth it. We left the large gift shop/registration building and strolled down the gravel walkway to the first set of enclosures.

All of the enclosures are fairly large and tall and have the chain-link cage that the cats are in and then another one surrounding the first with a walkway between the two for the workers. The enclosures were surprisingly clean and there was very little (if any) bad smells. All enclosures were shaded and some had toys for the cats to play in or large pools for them to swim in. You could tell that great care and attention is given to all of the cats.

When we got close to the first enclosure, a giant white tiger lunged towards us and let out a giant roar. We jumped back in shock and our kids wrapped themselves behind our legs. A very kind lady ran out of another building and informed us that the tiger is afraid of strollers and walkers and that we're not supposed to have them there. Needless to say, we didn't hesitate in putting the stroller away!

Besides that one intense moment where we inadvertently broke the rules and scared the kitty (but are secretly thankful it happened to us because it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing- hopefully) we loved In-Sync Exotics. The cats are large and beautiful, an amazing sight to see. It made us fear them and love them at the same time. We would love to volunteer in the future and are so proud to be a part of a community that not only cares about each other, but about creatures that can be misunderstood and feared, but definitely deserve to be respected.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Wylie, TX on a trip to In-Sync Exotics for a fun family outing.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

post signs that stated no strollers or walkers and give the reason (they scare the animals). I'm not sure all of the volunteers are aware of the rule because we passed a few of them on our way down to the animal enclosures and no one said anything until after the tiger let us know he was there. We felt awful for scaring it (even though it was neat to see it's reaction) and definitely would have followed the rules had we known.
