Review for ChildFund International, Richmond, VA, USA
I first became aware of Child Fund (formerly Christian Children's Fund) back in the 1970's while reading my Mother's Time Magazines. I knew when I was still a child myself that I would be working with this charity some day. My first sponsorship began in 1998, and for eleven years I had a wonderful relationship with my sponsored child and her family, who lived in Brazil. It was such a rewarding experience to watch her grow and develop as the years went by. Now my original child is grown, married, and has a child of her own. I currently sponsor additional children with Child Fund, and I am having the same wonderful experiences with these children and their families. Sponsorship is so much more than just giving a monthly donation. Through mail correspondence, we all have a close bond with one another, and view ourselves as extended family members from across the miles. We care about what is going on in one another's lives, giving praise for accomplishments and providing moral support for life's challenges. It is my dream to someday be able to travel and meet my extended family personally.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Child Fund works diligently to maintain financial accountability for all their clients donations. I have personally received written receipts signed by my sponsored childrens' family for all monetary gifts I have sent over the years as well as mail correspondence. I also receive Progress Reports annually on each child that I sponsor. Included are updates on the child's health, education, family, community, an updated photo of your child, and they draw pictures for you too!
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Child Fund is an honorable and responsible charity. They continue to provide services to children, families, and communities in thirty-one countries globally. They will remain in an area affected by poverty until the community is able to financially support themselves. I highly recommend checking out their website to read firsthand about all the programs that Child Fund provides, and the positive impact they are making around the world. No changes are necessary.
