Review for Boston Terrier Rescue of Greater Houston, The Woodlands, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have adopted 3 dogs from BTRGH and 2 of them were foster failures. I say because I was an adopter and am a volunteer that BTRGH takes pride in being a true not for profit rescue. No expense is spared to rehabilitate and heal injured or sick and animals and every effort is made to find the right forever home for all of the dogs that are in rescue. I am lucky to be involved with such a wonderful organization.

I am a volunteer for this awesome nonprofit and I am also an adopter. I adopted Max in 2001 and he is a wonderful dog. We are so lucky that in the Houston Area there is a rescue where BTs have a chance to have homes like mine, where dogs are loved unconditionally and where people are patient with their quirks. What is so great about the BTRGH is that every dog is loved and cared for until they get the right home. I must stress "right" home. Every adopter and foster parent goes through an extensive application process. Everyone in BTRGH is honest about all the dogs good traits and the traits that may or may not make them perfect for a particular home. We are not just trying to give a dog a home, we are trying to give them a forever home. I am lucky to be apart of such a wondeful organization that brings so much joy to so many dogs.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have adopted a dog from the organization, as well as seen BTRGH rehabilitate and place previously "unadoptable" dogs into wonderful loving homes. Dogs that would have not survived in a shelter environment have thrived through love of volunteers.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No changes.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Interacting with the dogs. They are so starved for attention that it is so rewarding when you show them that you care the love you get back in return.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Everyone is wonderful and dedicated. I have to say I love the honesty of our volunteers regarding all the dogs and the ability to say "no this isn't the right home for this dog" we will wait for the perfect home.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build a state of the art kennel and help so many other dogs. Right now we can't take in all the dogs we want to because we do not have the room or resources.

Ways to make it better...

I have always had good experiences.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Keeping up with the need of homeless BTs in the area. We need more volunteers. It would also be wonderful to have more money for a bigger facility.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am so lucky to be able to volunteer with this organization.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
