Review for Organization for Autism Research, Arlington, VA, USA
Funding for Autism Research has increased substantially since the mid '90s when advocacy groups were able to mobilize the NIH, CDC and university and private institutions to focus on the needs of people with autism. However most of those funds have been expended in pursuit of understanding the factors that might cause autism. Very little was being addressed to the practical needs of people with autism, and in particular to the needs of adults. This lack of attention missed the reality that most people with autism are adults, and their needs are increasing.
OAR has been the standard bearer for people with autism and their families, and the primary source of funding for Applied Research in to ways to improve the lives of people with autism. They have assembled a truly expert and experienced cadre of professional advisers and the organization is run efficiently, effectively and transparently.
OAR is highly worthy of support.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Funding research in to independent living support for people with autism.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Have it be less self effacing and get the message out that adults are the largest group of people with ASD, there is no epidemic, just neglect of older folk who were never properly diagnosed.
