As a Board Member for the Organization for Autism Research, I know the great work that they do. OAR's top mission is funding applied research and they have awarded over $2 million in research. OAR also has produced a series of six guides to help parents and educators navigate different topics in autism. As a parent of a teenager with autism, these guides have been very helpful to me. OAR also has a RUN FOR AUTISM program that has raised more than $3.2 million in research. My family and I have participated in races across the country to help support this program. OAR was very supportive in assisting with the fundraising by providing a complete race kit. Finally, the OAR Schwallie Family Scholarship Program has awarded over 33 scholarships to individuals with autism pursuing a post-secondary education. This is a wonderful and unique program!
