Review for The PEPY Ride, Briarcliff Manor, NY, USA
I have been working with PEPY for the past 2 years both virtually as a volunteer and for the last 10 months in the office here in Phnom Penh. I came on a trip in December 2005 and it changed my world! I am constantly impressed at the self-critical and thoughtful attitude that PEPY staff take with development programs.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Chanleas Dai commune. I saw this area both before and after PEPY. What a different place! Parents are invested in the education of their children, kids come to school, have dreams of becoming teachers instead of migrant workers to Thailand, filter their water, and keep their school clean. WOW!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
both the khmer and foreign staff, the learning experience
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
the best people i know in the world :)
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Save it for some time to invest in future projects once we have trained staff ready to implement them. The biggest challenge in Cambodia for development is not lack of funds. The biggest challenge is growing in a sustainable fashion and making sure projects are not only giving but instead creating lasting change. We could certainly spend 10 million dollars here, but we could not do it in accordance with our goals at the moment. We want to make sustainable change, which does NOT come with large and uncontrolled projects that grow too rapidly. That said, don't be hesitant to donate! We could still use more than we have! Keep that 10 million dollar check handy and send one for 100 or 1,000 in the meantime!
