Review for Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA
I have acted as an activist and volunteer in many different capacities over the years. Volunteering at the Conservator's Center however has meant more than giving my time and energy to a cause. I go out every Saturday and can see the difference this organization makes in the lives of the animals. Some of whom I can't help but wonder how it is they could ever trust humans again. Each Saturday evening I come back home tired, dirty and exhilarated with the knowledge that I have been given the opportunity to be part of something so genuinely good.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
observing first hand the animals who, through no fault of their own, must live confined and at man's mercy. Rather than behavior I would interpret as despair, depression and lack of engagement on their part witnessed so often in "zoo's" , the residents at the Center are still interested in their environment. The constant interaction by the staff, volunteers and interns have allowed them to be individuals with their own quirks and personalities. In the same measure , a privilege afforded me as well.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I wouldn't. Changes to the organization I believe would cast it in to the " don't fix it if it isn't broken" category. The will is there and the intentions are spot on, It is a lack of funding that has not allow for the needed expansion and improvements to the resident's habitats. It is nothing in the organization itself that needs major altering- just general business systems installed which will ultimately help fuel income which is needed by the organization to carry out it's work.
