Review for Nanubhai Education Foundation, Warner Robins, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Nanubhai Education Foundation is an amazing organization that seeks to advance education in rural India by promoting English and technology education at the grassroots level. India is changing so rapidly, but a large portion of the population does not participate in the new economy. Through NEF, highly qualified and committed American teachers are sent to public high schools. I have been impressed by the teachers in India, and have had the privilege to talk to several about their experiences. I am also excited to meet and talk to new volunteers willing to donate their time to help us on fundraising and outreach. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of an organization that has already done so much to give underprivileged children in India an opportunity to climb out of poverty and committed to building on that momentum one student, one classroom and one high school at a time. We are always looking for committed volunteers to help us here and in India, and encourage anyone interested to visit our website at www.nanubhai.org or e-mail me at kandarp@nanubhai.org.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the increase in the graduation rate at Kadod High School from 25 percent to 75 percent in such a short time.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

focus on increasing awareness of the great work Nanubhai has already done and would be able to do with additional resources and support.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the incredible individuals that keep the organization running, from Founder Raj Shah to the dedicated teachers in India to the volunteers in the United States.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

intelligent, dedicated and entrepreneurial. Everyone is focused on advancing education in rural India without a personal agenda or ego.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach more underprivileged children and give them the opportunity to pull themselves and their families out of poverty.

Ways to make it better...

I had only started earlier.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

expanding the program to more high schools and more states in India. I am confident that the current team in place will be able to meet this challenge and reach even more underprivileged children across India.

One thing I'd also say is that...

nonprofit work, and working at Nanubhai in particular, is a rewarding, challenging and humbling experience. I wish I had realized earlier in life the benefits of volunteering.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
