Review for Operation Understanding DC, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Operation Understanding DC was an amazing opportunity for me. It greatly increased my confidence and my ability to act in spite of my being younger. This program increases social awareness and provides a forum to discuss many deep issues on race, religion and the nature of prejudice.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way I personally think and act. Hopefully this will expand to my whole community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the life-long friends made who truly understand me.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing in that they all had a story to tell and all helped to lead us to our goal of being community leaders to eradicate racism and prejudice.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

extend our summer journey, which was made three days shorter for lack of funds this year which would give us more time to process and debrief together on what we had experienced as well as experiencing more.

Ways to make it better...

we had more time together.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funds and public knowledge. If more people knew about this program, more people would try to participate as well as greater opportunity for funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this program has changed my life forever.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Client Served & I was a participant in Class 15 and soon I will be going out to facilitate discussions and give speeches on race, privledge and other such topics.
