My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia, Inc., Macon, GA, USA
This organization has provided an opportunity for at risk children to have additional positive, caring, and instructive adult input into their lives. It has been my priviledge to participate these last 10 years in weekly (school year) activities including fun and social, but most importantly the chance to develop a relationship that tells the child they are valuable and deserve to have every opportunity to learn and grow. The responses these children have provided back to me have been among my greatest life blessings.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have been able to receive information and personnaly see the growth in numbers and response to children in the middle Georgia area. I also developed relationships with school personnel that have provided great satus updates on children I have mentored.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I doubt I could do nearly as well as they do.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The BBBS staff have been very well organized ans suppotive, but the greatest element is still the response of the children.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Energetic, outgoing, caring, helpful, etc. They have been a joy to work with.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Greatly enhance the wonderful work they do to provide a boost to children, which is our society's greatest resource. Particularly actions like resources for additional recruiting efforts including facilities and staff.
Ways to make it better...
For me personally it is hard to imagine it being any better.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
As great as they are they still could do more with additional resources, especially recruit more male mentors for the at risk male students.
One thing I'd also say is that...
This is an important part of intervention in the lives of children who could have problems in a smooth transition to positive adult lifestyles. It is a critical need that only requires a liitle time to show that they matter.
