Review for A Touch of Understanding Inc, Granite Bay, CA, USA
A Touch of Understanding is a unique and much needed disability awareness program. I was so very impressed with both the volunteers and the staff. Leslie DeDora, co-founder, holds ATOU to the highest standards of excellence. The students that participate in the ATOU program are forever changed by the presentations as well as the activity areas. I have seen first hand how they come in thinking those with disabilities are "weird" or "different" but through the compassionate way the program is presented, they come away with a whole new "understanding" of what those with disabilities are capable of in their daily lives.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the way the students speak after seeing the presentations and listening to the speakers.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Do it just the same way.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the way the message of ATOU is presented in a loving, compassionate and non-judgmental way.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Caring and knowledgeable.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
bring their passion for respect and dignity for the disabled to many areas of this country.
Ways to make it better...
I could work with them all daily!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the lack of funding and the lack of real knowledge of what ATOU is all about
One thing I'd also say is that...
I love ATOU!
