Review for Rhapsody Ranch Inc, Brentwood, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

At Rhapsody Ranch, Pamela and Bill Doheney have created a warm, relaxed and caring refuge for the young people they serve. When I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and hugs from the staff, wagging tails and moist doggie noses from 'the boys,' and a slice of farm life that few of us get to experience in this day and age.

Walking out to the stables, I heard a soft whinny as Angel urged us closer. As I stroked her neck, I saw love and trust in those big brown eyes, and felt instantly calm. What child, I thought, wouldn't draw strength from this gentle beast?

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The enthusiasm of its founders and volunteers is contagious. Rhapsody Ranch is more than a place to ride horses, and it shows. I felt it myself when I arrived, and saw it in the smiles of the clients I spoke with.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to get the word out so that more people will support the work that the Doheneys are doing at Rhapsody Ranch!

Was your donation impactful?

Definitely

How likely is it that you would recommend that a friend donate to this group?

Definitely

How likely are you to donate to this group again?

Definitely

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

Running a hippotherapy program is expensive, but the Doheneys do not charge the families whose children they serve. I knew that the money I contributed to their program would make a bigger, more direct impact than it would at a larger organization.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

New horses have been added to the program, creating more opportunities for growth, but also more need for donations.

What would you tell others about this organization?

This free program is open to all who need it. The people at Rhapsody Ranch are warm and friendly and truly care about the children, the families, and the community they serve.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2011

Role:  Donor & I visited with the Doheneys at their ranch, met with clients and volunteers, and interacted with the horses.
