Review for Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue Inc, Columbus, OH, USA

Rating: 1 stars

How does a rescue justify refusing to return a WELL-CARED FOR, MUCH LOVED DOG to its rightful owner? Through a series of unfortunate circumstances a dog got lost. The owner comes to get the dog back, and this so-called "rescue," instead of welcoming the owner and returning the dog, wastes funds trying to keep the dog from the owner? How insane is that? SHAME ON THIS EXCUSE OF A RESCUE.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Review for The Humane Society of the United States, Washington, DC, USA

HSUS is not about animal welfare; it is an animal RIGHTS organization. Their own charter specifically says they are NOT to engage in political lobbying, yet this is the main thrust of their activities. Their main advertising is about abused pets, and this is what they use to solicit money, but not even 1% of the money they take in goes to actually help homeless pets. The bulk of their fundraising goes to — more fundraising! They pay people to raise money! If someone wants to really help animals, do it LOCALLY. Bring a couple packages of paper towels to your local shelter. Sponsor an animal's neutering surgery. Walk a dog — teach it to sit and walk nicely on a leash, and give it a better chance at being adopted! But don't throw money at HSUS unless you, too, want to see an END to all domestic animals.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their failure to support local rescues. They take credit but do next to nothing. Where was HSUS with funds to help animals that lost their homes due to tornadoes and flooding? With all their millions, where is HSUS when a shelter has to close due to lack of funds? Why are they throwing MILLIONS of dollars into fundraising instead of into caring for animals?

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

1) change the name so that people aren't misled into thinking they're helping local humane societies 2) be honest and open about their goals: they want an END to all animal agriculture 3) end ALL lobbying and ALL interference in farming practices; they're not farmers and they don't have a clue 4) put the bulk of funding into actually caring for homeless animals 5) reduce Wayne Pacelle's salary by 75% For starters…
