Review for The Oral Cancer Foundation, Santa Fe, NM, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My mother passed away from oral cancer and it was the OCF that got her through 5 very trying years. The community that has been created through their very well maintained forums offers patients and care givers a place to share theirs and learn from others experiences. OCF should win this award because it is working very hard to spread awareness about a disease that is virtually unheard of to thise not effected by it. If my mother had not found the website, I hoonestly do not think she would have survived 5 years.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my mothers face after she realized that there were other people dealing with the disfiguring side effects of oral cancer.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the sense of family that came from the other members, even though our mother passed away nine months ago they still check in on us.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing. The founder was even willing to talk with my family on the phone to walk us through how to get the best medical care possible.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save lives.

Ways to make it better...

there were more members!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of awareness.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Client Served & i helped organize the first OCF awareness walk with my mother. The foundation helped my mother through her illness.
