I have been volunteering at Therapeion since 2008. I started there to be around the horses and then my focus quickly shifted to the riders. It's great to see the smiles when they enter the barn. I enjoy watching them progress. Our riders have a variety of abilities, some would say disabilities. The horses, and not all horse can be therapy horses, sense when they have a rider with special needs. They need to be able to be calm with various noises and/or movements from the riders. The horses allow riders with limited mobility the opportunity of freedom of movement. Libby does a great job of matching horses and riders while taking into consideration needs, sizes, personalities, ...
Therapeion's program options continue to evolve and grow. We still have a long wish list - including an indoor arena to be able to have classes year round here in Indiana!
