I found this charity through another charity that helps senior dogs. Every year that I continue to volunteer with Grey Muzzle, I am awed by the variety of senior dogs they help, and by the different programs throughout the country which are coming up with ways to help senior pooches. I do other related volunteering and I must say, you can have the best program in the world but you won't be effective without money. Grey Muzzle removes some of that worry, by offering funding for non-profits who ar helping senior dogs. What a great idea! The people in the trenches can concentrate on the dogs, and Grey Muzzle can help keep those programs going. Grey Muzzle comes up with interesting fundraisers throughout the year, and as the organization has grown, so have the number of dogs they have helped. This isn't like the really huge animal welfare agencies, who take in a bunch of money and spend it on administrative costs, advertising, and return-address-stickers to be sent to unsuspecting people. This is the perfect balance of national exposure and local involvement. Money is raised all over the country, and the grants are awarded all over the country too. You can help in hands-on ways, or you can help from afar; there really is something for everyone here. But most importantly, it all goes to the dogs. If you are considering taking on a new volunteer committment, please consider Grey Muzzle. If you are considering making a donation to a great cause, please consider Grey Muzzle. And if you are a non-profit that helps senior dogs, please keep an eye on their website because grant windows open up twice a year. I have been with Grey Muzzle for years and have no intention of stopping. This is a great organization and they really are making a difference in the lives of vulnerable senior dogs.

I have followed the good work of this nonprofit from its early days and am so gratified to be part of its unique mission to help senior dogs through carefully vetted grants to shelters and rescues nationwide. Through its grants, Grey Muzzle's advocacy of adopting senior dogs ensures that many more will find loving homes. I am impressed with Grey Muzzle's innovative approaches, leadership, advisory board, and educational webinars. As a donor, I am confident that my gifts are well spent and make a difference for senior dogs. My gifts in memory of my dogs have provided great comfort by seeing that their hearts shine on forever through other senior dogs.

I've always been interested in donating to animal rescue but with all the need for help out there, it was hard to know where my donation would have the most impact and go directly to the dogs in need. I would sometimes send a donation and never hear back from the group. Helping senior dogs was a particular interest and I read about the work of Grey Muzzle. What I particularly liked was the organization did all the vetting of the Rescues groups where my money would go and also that I was helping dogs all of the country, not just in my area. Grey Muzzle is excellent in their communications, showing how dogs are helped in different shelters from the donor's gifts, and they also make each donor feel like their donation, no matter what the size, is truly appreciated.
They are creative in their fundraising. They also provide education to help owners deal with the challenges of a senior dog and reward Rescues that come up with new ways or programs to help their senior dogs. I've always given to one of their campaigns to raise money to help seniors with dental problems, but until this year, never really understood how important this particular problem was for senior rescue. My family adopted a 12 year old senior dog that had been neglected. The rescue couldn't afford the dental work needed. We had it done but who knows how long she had been hurting. The difference in our dog after having rotten teeth pulled and she was no longer in pain, was amazing. The money from Grey Muzzle's Smile Campaign helps those dogs in Rescues so they don't have to wait until they are adopted to get that kind of help
Grey Muzzle is a very special organization. I am so grateful for the work they are doing to improve the lives of senior dogs through their support of the Rescues all over the country who are taking on the challenges involved with our wonderful older dogs. I'm so proud of the work they do and glad I can contribute.

I love senior dogs ! Unfortunately senior dogs are neglected and cast off by some people who view them as used up and useless. This cannot be farther from the truth! There is such wisdom and love in senior K9s. They are the best. Grey muzzle not only cares for these forgotten dogs but helps people who cannot afford the care a senior dog may require. The grants Grey Muzzle awards reach far and wide and help to save and serve senior dogs across the country.

Anyone who has ever loved an old dog can really appreciate the mission of The Grey Muzzle Organization. They are dedicated to helping homeless senior dogs by funding programs run by carefully screened shelters and rescues. Their grants help old dogs in crisis receive things they desperately need, from medical care to warm beds, and they promote special adoption programs like Seniors for Seniors. This organization is run by great people who really care about helping dogs just at the time they need someone the most.
