I have know about this nonprofit for many years. There are not many organizations that have such little overhead, 90% of the money that is donated goes to the people they serve. They are available for their clients 24/7, they not only put families in housing, they teach them to help themselves. Serving People In Need is a gem in the nonprofits in Orange County.
Serving People in Need (SPIN) is a grass roots, roll up the sleeve organization of volunteers and donors who believe it is their responsibility as fortunate citizens with a roof over head and food on the table to help those without. Especially those with children, which is the focus of SPIN'S outreach in Orange County. The non-profit is run by cost-conscious people who keep expenses low with approximately 90 percent of funds raised going to those served. In addition, most of the staff, the volunteers and the donors have been with SPIN for many years.
SPIN is not talk; it is action. Some 700 plus people housed this past year alone.
I am the office administrator for St. John Vianney Chapel and I have worked with SPIN for over 5 years. I help coordinate their Annual Christmas Wreath fundraiser with the Knights of Columbus. The money raised directly assists Orange County homeless families. I know that SPIN has a 98% success rate in helping these families move into their own housing and become self-sufficient. I cannot rate them highly enough (even with five stars)!
Mater Dei High School has worked with SPIN for more than 10 years. We support SPIN by providing cookies for the 350 weekly sack lunches distributed via the Street Services Program as well as stocking the food pantry following our annual Thanksgiving Outreach food drive.
SPIN provides multiple volunteer opportunities for our students to serve our brothers and sisters in need. We are dedicated to SPIN and their programs and look forward to partner with them as they implement their mission to the people in need in Orange County.
I have helped nonprofits for over 50 years and SPIN stands out as a unique charity because it truly helps people get-back-on-their feet and they do so frugally with almost 100% of the donated dollars going to helping people in need. Their involvement is immeasurable with caring professionals and an exemplary volunteer base. I'm truly honored to be involved with such a heartfelt and mission-focused group.
