My name is David Desmond and I am 53 years old and had my first child in June a beautiful baby girl. I had lost the job I loved in March laid off due to COVID I had been there for 7 years as a bartender and off-site coordinator. It was more than a job we were family there and I[planned on returning in July. NYFC went out of business instead after 30 years. I found myself in a position I had never been in. Savings down to zero and the possibility of being homeless being very real I reached out to SPIN and my counselor was Adreanna Solis was assigned to me. Adreanna became more than just my counselor she saved my family. And thanks to her and Spin I was able to have a roof and food in the house. I will always have such a huge debt of gratitude and thanks for her commitment and efforts saved my baby girl from being cold and hungry. She helped me when there was no help or hope available. Adreanna will always have a place in Priscilla my wife and mine Dave Desmond and my daughter Annalisa. I have thanked Adreanna many times but the impact she had on our lives is one I can't be said enough and we thank you again for your hard work and diligence for this I again say thank you Adreanna. You have inspired me to help someone as you helped us. Dave Desmond
I have been blessed to be a part of SPINs Board for the last year and a half. The organization is making such a big difference in our community, helping families get back on their feet by providing shelter and assistance during challenging times! 92% of SPINs clients maintain permanent housing, which is incredible, especially for the kids!
I have been volunteering with SPIN for 20 plus years. SPIN does an amazing job of filling a very important need in the community. Jean and Kim and their team are beyond caring and professional with huge hearts. The number of families that they have helped with education, housing, job training, etc. is absolutely unbelievable. Not to mention the meals and hygiene kits that they deliver to the homeless each week. I am so proud to be a small part of all that they do and look forward to many more years volunteering with this amazing organization.
I've been involved with SPIN for several years now. Whether helping to fundraise or spread the word about needs at SPIN, every time I talk with their staff, I can tell they care deeply about each and every client they serve. The staff at SPIN work humbly behind the scenes to do whatever they can to improve the lives of others by setting them up with the resources and skills to thrive. And they care about their volunteers too. For SPIN, you can tell that it's about the relationships and putting people first. Keep up the amazing work, SPIN!
Working with a non profit that keeps homeless families together is life changing. Not only for the families but for the volunteers that put in countless hours to help these families get back on their feet. Serving People in Need has been a blessing for me, I see the good that can happen.
I have been proud to serve on the SPIN Board for the last 10 years. This organization has helped hundreds of families maintain their dignity and family connect with a 92% success rate. We focus on providing a hand up and not a hand out. Our clients know we are here to help them help their selves. Our staff is caring and dedicated.
When my family and I were hit with tough times, i didn't think we would get past it. I was so grateful to have found SPIN. We were able to get back on our feet in a very short time. Our family will forever be grateful to SPIN, the donors and the staff for all their hard work and their kindness.
My family and I can not thank SPIN enough for all they have done for us. We were homeless and living in our car when we were contacted by SPIN. Within 2 weeks we had our new apartment and couldn't of come at a better time being how the pandemic came a few weeks later. It didn't stop there during the pandemic they never let us feel alone from groceries to just a bit of budget help or just a quick email asking if we were doing ok. Thank you for everything you have and are doing for us we will never forget it!!!!!!
My experience has been great. They really helped my family out of homelessness and get back on our feet. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know what my family would have done. I’m am so grateful for this program. It has been a blessing.
My kids father and I split after 16yrs of being together. He was verbally abusive and his drinking was becoming a problem. He would drink more and more everyday. I decided to leave for my kids, they didn’t deserve to see us arguing every day. With no where to go my kids and I lived in my car and occasionally would stay the night with my sister. I found this program called HIS house who referred me to SPIN. That is when our lives changed. After talking with Natalie and discussing the program, we had our own place within 6days. It’s a 2bd room apartment, nice size kitchen and living room. It’s our place, a place we can call home. My kids have never been so happy to have their own room. I thank God everyday for Natalie and SPIN for helping us find our own place.
After being without a home for nearly 8 months, I reached out to the The SPIN program. They helped me and my children get into a place we could call home. I will forever be grateful to this program for everything they did for my children and myself from funding the 1st few months of rent, to blessing us with a Thanksgiving dinner basket and providing my children with Christmas gifts. They also provide family events for the clients. This is a great opportunity for the families to fellowship with each other. I enjoy bringing my family to them. They also have a pantry. When I cannot afford to buy food, I reach out and they provide food and toiletries from their pantry. Ladeshia Goubert is the best! Very compassionate and always tending to our needs. We have now been in our home for a year but would not be where we are now if it was not for the SPIN Program!
My experiences as a volunteer for SPIN have been excellent! These people are wonderful examples of what a community-serving group should be--organized, helpful, upbeat, and generous. My grandson and I have loved being involved with SPIN for the past five years--and I know we will continue to reach out in any way that we can. Congrats to SPIN for its continued great efforts for Orange County!
I know there is a problem with homeless in Orange County and wanted to find an organization where my time and efforts could be most helpful. I have found that in SPIN. Working with Kim, the Director of Volunteers Services, she lets me know when and how I can help. I also love that they work closely with families and their success rate in placing families in shelters, or facilities, temporary or permanent is encouraging.
It's been a pleasure working with them and I look forward to be able to continue helping however I can.
SPIN helped us in time in need and never disappointed us. I thank god for spin for blessing me and my family a place that we can call home. Thanks to our case manager for working with my family and provided with anything she can. Definitely would recommend spin to anyone who in deed in need of help
I Dont Even Know Where To Start... They Have Helped Me Get My Son And My Life Back On Track And Always There When I Need Help... Thank You So Very Much
My daughter and I struggled for 5 years with homelessness. "Affordable housing" was difficult to find. I worked but the cost of basic needs was a daily challenge. Once We were connected to SPIN , we were finally able to make the dream of having our home a reality. They helped us get in, remain stable and set more goals for the next part of our journey. Adreanna was kind, she kept us up to date on leads, outreaches and programs. I appreciate her and SPIN more than words can say. We are truly thankful for the opportunity to achieve a place to call home!
SERVING PEOPLE WHO ARE IN NEED, WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY AND GOOD SUPPORT, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE WORK OF SPIN WHO HAD HELP MANY NEEDY FAMILIES, SPECIALLY NATALIEE, THAN YOU NATALIE FOR THE HELP AND SUPPORT IN MY DIFFICULTIES TIME ON BEHALF OF SPIN
I recently became homeless due to a bad situation. I had to leave my home within 2 weeks.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to survive.
Luckily, I applied for a Apartment. I was approved, but I did not have the money for the 1st month rent or deposit.
SPIN helped me to pay my 1st month rent and deposit.
I am so grateful happy relieved I have my own place to call home.
I received the number to SPIN by calling 211. When I called and explained my living situation Kim was very helpful and kind. I got an appointment fairly quickly also. Kim was due to go on vacation and transferred all of my information to Natalie who has continued to help my family from there. I was Homeless for a little over a month so when SPIN helped me move into my own place recently I was beyond grateful. They were able to pay my complete move in as well as stock my refrigerator and pantry to get us started. I have received a tremendous amount of assistance from this organization which has really helped to change my overall outlook on life. I am happier than I have been in years and best of all my family is once again in tact and we are looking forward to the future. I can’t tell you was a blessing they have truly been to me and my family!
I am so very thankful with spin they helped me and my family in all ways they could they help us get our own place when onebody else did when we needed it the most god bless everyone from spin thank you so much from my family and I ❤
My mother and I are very impressed with the overall concern of those who care of the less fortunate. My whole Family is pleased that we have a home and can now gather together. SPIN is an excellent organization.
Homeless and pregnant after being let go from a 5 year career as a Crude Oil Operator in Huntington Beach, I lost my townhome and all of my belongings. After two years of living in a homeless shelter, I was referred to SPIN with aspirations of a new beginning. My SPIN Case manager guided me on how to look for an apartment that was close to work and childcare, within my budget of what my low income would allow without failure. When I was approved for move-in at my complex, my SPIN Case manager came out to inspect the property for safety and suitability. SPIN paid for my deposit and first month of rental fees. SPIN filled my home with furniture and décor, knowing my needs they would put donations aside that brought tears to my eyes, replacing many things that I had lost. To follow up, I participated in workshops that encouraged me professionally to do more for my career. Monthly, SPIN filled my pantry with an abundance of food, this saved me hundreds of dollars every month. SPIN referred me to a nonprofit that worked with me to repair and improve my credit. My credit has been raised over 200 points in the past 12 months! My case manager held my hand when the doctor feared I may have breast cancer, checking in on me and being someone I could confide in while staying strong for my children.
SPIN received tickets by donation for Cirque de Soleil and I was able to take my children to their first circus, my first as well.
SPIN provided all new shirts and pajamas for my children for their first day of school!
By the many things that SPIN has done for me, to relieve the many stresses of maintaining a home and family, I was able to focus on work. I was hired and promoted within my first year of employment.
Working hard, and having the support of SPIN, I know I will never be alone and can someday help other women overcome homelessness.
Thank you to the many supporters of Serving People in Need, making the world a better place and providing hope to the Homeless in Orange County!
I needed help with getting back on my feet, Spin helped my family and I get our apartment. Helped with the rent, some furniture and food. Couldn't be any more grateful.
Where does one begin?! SPIN is an agency that cares about each one of the families. They don’t only help you to be better and prevent homelessness. But they provide tools for micro management with budget and motivate you to do better . Myself and my boys are truly blessed to have had such a wonderful case manager Ladeshia and let me not forgot Chad who help me land the job with an employer who values my work. I could not thank the entire SPIN agency enough for all of your support.
S.P.I.N is amazing!! They helped me out when I needed it the most. S.P.I.N saved my life. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be were I am at today. I was a single mother working two jobs just to make ends meet. I have a 3 year old daughter who always asked me. "Mommy when are we gonna go home." Thankful for S.P.I.N my daughter has a Home. My manager is amazing. Whatever I needed she was there to help. If I needed someone to talk to she was there. I forever will be thankful. I will always recommend this place for family who are in need of help. Don't give up!! S.P.I.N will do there best to help you.
Single mother of 2 and was trying my hardest to get out of a motel where we had been staying for 2 years, although I had steady income it was hard to save living at the motel. Through SPIN they made it possible for my children and I to walk into an apartment we now call home. I can not thank all the staff at SPIN enough for their kind hearts and sincere ability to want to help out their community. They not only helped us get into an apartment, but they provided resources during the holidays, provided budgeting workshops and educated us on how to save and manage our money to make the dollar stretch. I am forever grateful for all that SPIN has done for not just myself but for my children, they have given my children more confidence and self worth knowing they aren't in a motel anymore and brought one of my sons dreams true which was to finally have a real Christmas tree for Christmas in his own home.
My experience with Serving People in Need has been one of the greatest experiences! The staff here is very devoted to their mission and every volunteer learns something. I am happy to be volunteering for SPIN.
I and my family ended being homeless. My husband loss his job and I’m only working partime. And we can’t pay our rent so we ended being evicted. We don’t have any place to go. We used a hotel voucher from the county so we have place to stay and sleep because we have 3 children included a baby. After using all hotel voucher from the county me and my husband are really struggling financially. We apply for different affordable housing but because of a bad credit they always turn down our applications. We almost loss our hope but finally in GODS grace my husband find this organization “SPIN” they schedule us to do intake interviews and they don’t hesitate to help us. Right away they accept our applications. And our case manager Alejandra she’s been good to us and help us a lot. She even find the place for us that we can stay and we can call it home. They provide housing assistance for us. They provide food for my family. It’s amazing that this Organization help a lot of people including us, my family. And we’re praying to GOD that he will provide to them a lot of sponsors so they can continue what their doing. There organization is absolutely wonderful. They also provide a workshop for us to help us to get back to our feet. They also help my husband to get his certification HHA . And we would like to thank SPiN for everything you have done to my family. GODBLESS US
I was introduced to Serving People In Need (SPIN) by a colleague about 10 years ago and have been a fan and supported ever since. They are a wonderful non-profit doing everything in their power to help the working poor in Orange County. They like to say 'SPIN gives them a hand-up, not just a hand-out'. I have been fortunate to hear several first hand success stories at SPIN's Annual Dinners; heart breaking and heart-warming at the same time.
In January, 2018 I was elected to the Board of Directors and have really enjoyed being more involved (albeit small in the scheme of things) for the non-profit. The board consists of compassionate, generous people, who like myself, really enjoy giving back and helping those less fortunate. Everyone leads busy, hectic lives, but we make time to do what we can. Since June, 2018 to date, we have served 295 adults and children - we focus on FAMILY. In 2017, we served a total of 516 adults and children...incredible!
I am humbled, honored and very rewarded to be a part of Serving People In Need.
I love SPIN and everything that it represents! As a volunteer for a number of years, I have experienced a tremendous amount of reward working with this group. I feel like I have not only made a difference in the lives of families across Orange County, but I have managed to change my life for the better in more ways than I could have imagined. The people, the mission, and overall experience with this team has been nothing short of amazing!
I am so honored to be a volunteer with this wonderful organization helping homeless families with children in Orange County, CA. The SPIN staff works hard to maintain a relationship with the families they help, and has programs in place to make sure the correct steps are being taken to get back on their feet and stay there. They provide so many services to the homeless people in our community making several ways to get involved and give back. This is a much needed organization, and the people behind it are one of a kind!
I am a volunteer for SPIN making brown bag lunches for the homeless for over 10 years. I have also participated in the winter coat drive and food pantry drive. I was on the Community Outreach Committee for the Assistance League of Newport/Mesa. This organization gave day care scholarships to the children of SPIN's clients. As you can see, I have seen many sides of what SPIN has done in our community. I am always impressed by this organization. The success rate of the people who come off the streets, work with SPIN's staff and become self sufficient is incredible. I have been a volunteer in some capacity since my teens and I can truly say that this organization is extraordinary.
I have been involved with SPIN for many years. The law firm I work for has adopted families for Thanksgiving and Christmas for over 20 years. Jean and Kim and their staff are the most amazing people and have helped so many families. SPIN is more than a charity, the work they do is so important, they help families get back on their feet, emotionally and financially by providing support, training, housing and whatever is needed. I recently went to an event and one of their clients spoke so eloquently about the help she was given, it brought me to tears, SPIN helped her believe in herself again and she and her children are thriving. I am proud to be associated with SPIN, it is a selfless organization with a huge heart!
I had the privilege to have been a Case Manager at SPIN several years ago . I myself was a person who had been out of work for along time and through a County Program was assigned to SPIN . I was considered a Volunteer and remained one for over a year . I was then asked to become a employee . I worked with the Case Managers and other staff to assist their clients , over a few years I became a Case Manager . I was instrumental in helping families by finding homes for them , teaching them about nutrition , budgeting , self-esteem , and other tools to get them back into making their families secure. SPIN gave me the support and tools to accomplish my goals for my families. I became involved working with other agencies in the community . Again, always getting the support I needed . I have since retired and moved on but I still after over 3 years maintain a relationship with SPIN and some of my clients who are so grateful for all SPIN did to make their lives better for their families. I can truthfully say SPIN changed my life and the families I served . Annette (Duncan) Nicholson
I am the office administrator for St. John Vianney Chapel and I have worked with SPIN for over 5 years. I help coordinate their Annual Christmas Wreath fundraiser with the Knights of Columbus. The money raised directly assists Orange County homeless families. I know that SPIN has a 98% success rate in helping these families move into their own housing and become self-sufficient. I cannot rate them highly enough (even with five stars)!
Mater Dei High School has worked with SPIN for more than 10 years. We support SPIN by providing cookies for the 350 weekly sack lunches distributed via the Street Services Program as well as stocking the food pantry following our annual Thanksgiving Outreach food drive.
SPIN provides multiple volunteer opportunities for our students to serve our brothers and sisters in need. We are dedicated to SPIN and their programs and look forward to partner with them as they implement their mission to the people in need in Orange County.
SPIN Orange County provides the right kind of helping hand. The Board is committed to helping families help themselves and get on the road to self sufficiency.
I have been making sack lunches with S.P.I.N. for several years and am so proud to be part of such a caring and giving charity. Kim Frazier is a delightful and thoughtful lady and attends to details to make good things happen to get the appropriate housing, clothing, etc. for the family in need. God has sent his abundance through parishioner contributions to S.P.I.N. when the government couldn't help us a few years ago. This charity seems to attract some of the nicest and most giving people I've ever met.
I volunteer for SPIN. They are a great organization helping the homeless and working poor in Orange County. They focus on giving people a hand up - not a hand out. I have spent time with them raising funds to help support all of their efforts around eduction, housing, and feeding the homeless. Those employed by this wonderful organization, especially Jean and Kim, work tirelessly to accomplish their goals funneling over 90% of the funds raised back into the Charity. They are amazing!
Our 2nd grade religious school class paired with SPIN last year in a project to help the Homeless. Their coordinator, Kim Frazier, came to our school and explained SPIN's mission and how they help those less fortunate. Our class created our own crafts, which we sold and raised $300, which we then used to buy items for sock kits, and then we assembled these kits and donated them back to SPIN. It meant a lot to our class to be able to make a difference in our community, and we plan to repeat the experience this year!
I have volunteered at SPIN for 17 years. What a wonderful organization!!
We make 350 meals ever week to be given to the homeless. There are many more homeless now and they are grateful for a meal.
SPIN makes a big impact in our community. They have help many families stay together and find jobs and housing.
Many lives have been impacted in a life saving way by SPIN.
I have been involved with SPIN for a number of years making sandwiches for the homeless. My husband and I have attended their annual fundraiser for many years and am always amazed, awed and moved to tears to hear the success stories of their clients. I know that giving my time and money to SPIN is well spent. The credit goes to the administrative staff who select clients that are willing to make changes in their lives. There are too many people needing help in our county. It takes a special talent to decide who will best benefit from the money and services that SPIN provides.
I have been a volunteer at SPIN for close to 20 years. I help deliver food and other necessities to the homeless. I have been on the board of directors of several non-profits over the years but the personal involvement of talking to and helping people in need on a regular basis has been the most rewarding experience of all. SPIN's good work goes far beyond serving those living in homeless shelters and on the street and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of what they do.
Our family came to SPIN in March of 2015 after losing our home of 8 years to a fire. Promises of refurbishing the building never materialized and continued to be delayed month after month. After a series of Motels, camping and staying with friends we were financially and emotionally exhausted. SPIN gave us an opportunity to find new housing and move on with our lives. We are grateful to have been assisted by SPIN during the months that we needed help the most. Today my husband and I are both working and are in a much better position financially thanks to SPIN.
The Graham Family
My name is Monique and I chose to be an intern at SPIN for 3 months. The staff there are all very friendly and dedicated to help homeless families any way they can. Every week SPIN has a street service program where sack meals are passed out to homeless persons living on the street in downtown Santa Ana. I was given the chance to help assemble the meals alongside dedicated volunteers who have helped SPIN for many years. SPIN makes a great difference in the lives of families in need find a home for a new start in life. It was a great experience to intern at SPIN. I would like to thank Kim, Nicole, Sharon, Ladeisha, and Jean for their work at SPIN.
I have been donating to SPIN for a few years now and recently did a tiny canned food drive among my group of friends. The ladies who work there have been generous enough to give my friends and I a mini tour and talk about the families that come into their office. I hope to help out with their street service program too.
I recently worked with SPIN for my school volunteer project and i loved it. I was able to pass out sack meals and hygiene kits to the homeless down in Santa Ana. it was something i have never done before and it really opened my eyes.
Thank you SPIN for giving me this opportunity. You guys do so much.
My husband, Shaun, and I experienced a sequence of events that forced us and our three children to be living in our car, i.e. Shaun’s car accident, which left him unable to work. At that time, I was left to be the sole bread winner of our family. Shortly after, I was taken off of work due to chronic back pain. We were left with little money and remained living in our car. Working together, Serving People In Need helped us to become stably housed with Shaun’s new employment. We are currently working with their Career Counselor to build our resumes to find better employment to sustain our housing. THANK YOU SPIN!!
In March 2015, we were forced to use all of our savings to pay our rent as our roommates abandoned the shared apartment. This situation left us and our one year old with no money and homeless. Through Serving People In Need, we were able to get stably housed in permanent housing with David’s full-time employment. After meeting with SPIN’s Career Coach, I was able to utilize the Resume Building training, do interview training and help me with job search. I knew being in this program was my chance to grow in my profession was able to step away from my seasonal, part-time work into full-time employment. Through my perseverance and help from SPIN’s supportive services, I was accepted at an Orange County Financial Institution. Thanks to SPIN and their life professionals with their sound advice and unending support we have been able to get our life on track for ourselves and our family. Thank you SPIN for being the cushion at the bottom of the mountain. ~ The Denham Family
In March of 2015, I was a full-time employed, single mother to my 10 year-old son and was struggling to look for a better paying job to help improve the quality of life for my son and me. Due to past student loans, my tax refund was deferred to pay off these loans. With no other money saved, I needed help moving into an apartment while we lived in my truck. Through Serving People In Need (SPIN), we were able to get stably housed in permanent housing with my full-time employment. I also attended SPIN's Mastering Money Workshop, which has helped me improve my budgeting skills as well as participating in the Onesight program, which provided eye exams and glasses for my son and I. I cannot express my sincere gratitude for the help SPIN gave to me and my son to have a safe place to call home. THANK YOU!
last year i found myself homeless after my husband left me and my 2 children. I had a job that i was working at for about a year but it wasn't enough to cover all my expenses, especially rent! SPIN was able to cover the move in costs to move us into an apartment and assist with a couple months rent. this really helped me get back on my feet. While at my new apartment i was able to find a second job that pays 6 dollars more than my previous job!!!
THANK YOU SPIN! im so grateful
and thank you SPIN donors for all your food donations and birthday gifts for my girls!
I am a single father to two teenagers and in 2008; we were living in Arizona to care for my sick mother. With a promise of a better job, we made the decision to move back to Orange County in 2014 to build a better live for me and my children. While this job fell through after we returned to Orange County, I was able to find employment with more contacts equaling more work. Having no family in the area, were left homeless. Through Serving People In Need (SPIN), we were able to get stably housed in permanent housing with my full-time employment as well as participating in the Onesight program, which provided eye exams and glasses for my children. SPIN, THANK YOU for the wonderful things you did for my family and I. We are overwhelmed with the kindness of all of you. BIG hugs & love!
I've had the honor of working with SPIN through Agency Ingram Micro, helping to design some of their event collateral and have nothing but praise to share from my experience. The success and validity of the organization is greatly apparent through the many families that SPIN has helped in the OC community. Looking forward to working with SPIN for many more years to come!
I have been an internship at SPIN for three months now and I am very proud to be a part of this non-profit. I have worked in the GAPP program along with the Street Services program, making sack meals and hygiene kits for the homeless. Everyone here is dedicated to providing these families with the stepping stones that they need in order to start a new life for themselves. SPIN works very hard and is very successful, which is proven by their 92% success rate. They are so helpful and caring and I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue working with them.
For over 26 years SPIN has lived up to its name – Serving People in Need. I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors for this wonderful organization. Everyone associated with SPIN – its outstanding staff and dedicated volunteers - is focused on helping families return to self-sufficiency. SPIN doesn't judge - it offers a helping hand to those who for varying reasons have lost their homes - and often their hope. The long-term individualized case management and support services SPIN offers has resulted in 92% of our clients successfully completing the program with renewed self-esteem and the tools to continue rebuilding their lives.
I am proud to be on the board of this wonderful organization. Helping people get off the street and into housing and a productive life is the primary focus of everyone connected with SPIN. We run a lean staff with minimal overhead but have had a tremendous impact in our community for 26 years. It is a home grown, grass roots organization where 92% of every dollar is directly benefited by our clients. We believe in giving people a hand up not a hand out and it works.
Over the fifteen years I have volunteered, I have seen how SPIN has provided many basic needs for those whose life has been difficult. Meals for the homeless, apartments and needed furnishing, counseling and encouragement that life will get better are all provided as part of their services.
SPIN is a great community resource!
Hope. Hope for the homeless and needy that is what SPIN is all about. I have know about SPIN and their good works for many years but just recently am physically involved in helping on Thursdays making sandwiches for the homeless sacks. The people at SPIN are hard workers with great spirit and compassion for those in need. What I get back from helping SPIN can not be measured, for it is in giving that I receive.
I have helped nonprofits for over 50 years and SPIN stands out as a unique charity because it truly helps people get-back-on-their feet and they do so frugally with almost 100% of the donated dollars going to helping people in need. Their involvement is immeasurable with caring professionals and an exemplary volunteer base. I'm truly honored to be involved with such a heartfelt and mission-focused group.
3 years ago I lost my job of 20 years, coupled with the economy being in a bad recession I was unable to get a job, my 401k gone and our savings depleted we lost our home , with the little money we had left my wife, my two sons and I went to live to a cheap motel for a few weeks. It did not take much time before we we were living in our car. One day I decided to reach out for help and I went to many non-profit organizations in Orange County , I have never heard so many "NO" when I needed the most help,
But after a few days of searching I knocked on SPIN's door and my guardian Angel Annette Duncan welcome me in and accepted my family in their "Rapid Rehousing Program" , within days my family had a place to live and I got the opportunity to become self sufficient again and provide for my family.
We were homeless for more than a year and there is no doubt in my mind that we would still be homeless without SPIN's help.
I got a great job , my oldest son is back in college , my youngest is a 4.0 gpa honor HS senior student on his way to a major university with an academic scholarship.
Being a college educated man I had never thought that this could happened to my family, but thanks to the beautiful people at SPIN I was able to get back on my feet and be a provided for my family.
Madam Jean, Annette, Rosalyn and Kim: I love you all with all my heart, Thank you and God bless you.
Re: Thursday Night SPIN Truck
My Saturday morning church group are volunteer drivers for the SPIN truck on Thursday nights in Santa Ana California. We have had some unbelievable experiences with serving the Homeless and those that need food, a blanket, a smile and a welcoming handshake. Their necessity for these items drives us there. But, their warm "thank you" brings us back.
