Programs: Merrick features two food shelves located at woodland hills and arcade in saint paul. The woodland hills food shelf at 1740 van dyke street has been operating as the largest distributor in its service area for several years. In 2017, merrick expanded to a second location at 1669 arcade street in conjunction with its other social service programs. Both food shelves provide fresh and healthy food to low income residents on the east side of saint paul. Utilizing a client choice model, participants can shop for their specific needs while satisfying individual, family, and cultural preferences. Featuring mobile food shelves and multicultural produce distributions, the program served over 10,017 households in 2017.
the employment services program provides a number of resources and skills to enable clients the tools identify and obtain career opportunities. These resources provided unemployed and underemployed adults with resume building, job searches, e-mail access, professional computer skills, as well as help to identify employment references and interview skills. Featuring an 8 week construction training program each year, the employment services program served 574 community members in 2017.
the senior services program is dedicated to providing services that enable area seniors to remain independent and to continue living in their own homes for as long as possible. Operating one of the largest meals on wheels programs in ramsey county, nutritious food is delivered daily to elderly residents in east saint paul. Featuring senior mobile distributions and social groups, the program delivered 21,805 hot meals to home-bound seniors in 2017.

Merrick's new food bank facility is arranged and managed focused on the needs of participants. I attended the recent open house and was impressed with the efficiency, layout, helpful volunteers and staff along with the children's play area. This program offers participants a choice in the food they select - making sure they get a variety of nutritious food that fits their family's needs. Nancy Diekmann
Merrick Community Service's new food shelf located at 1075 Hudson Road in St. Paul, is clean, convenient and inviting. It offers a wide variety of food to accommodate diverse cultures. The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful. The new food shelf is a great addition to the East side community.
