Just an incredible organization. I am on the Board of Directors of Therapaws of Michigan and we partner with HSHV to do community outreach programs going into senior living facilities for Memory Circles for residents. During these HSHV does presentations about animals, residents get to talk about their former pets while having the opportunity to pet therapy dogs. This is just one of their many programs from low cost spay/neuter/vaccinate, to canine behavior experts, to read to the animals, and too many others to count. Their Love Train brings scores of dogs and cats up from other states where they have high volume over crowding

Humane Society of Huron Valley is an amazing organization who leaves no animal behind. The countless hours and time they spend rehabilitating dogs and even cats and other animals that people have said can’t be rehabilitated – with the right people to help them – they can.
The HSHV not only supports Washtenaw county, but takes in animals from overcrowded shelters (Love Train), animal testing facilities, and hoarding cases. They have a fantastic fostering system, lower cost vet services, and provide support for families to keep their pets. They are the BEST!

My family and I have adopted and brought in lost pets to HSHV. They are kind, compassionate, and an invaluable asset to our community. Thank you for all that you do!
I donate to this organization whenever I can. What they did for our county and furbabies is truly amazing. I have friends who have adopted from them and have been very happy. I will continue to support them!! ❤️
An amazing organization, saving so many local animals from homelessness, or other life-threatening circumstances. My family has adopted eight animals from HSHV. I am a proud donor, and I recommend the shelter to everyone searching for a family pet or barn cat.
The HSHV is a real asset to our community. Their junior volunteer program is wonderful, their youth programming is expansive, and they take great care of the animals. Their on site vet clinic is tops, and their cross-town cat cafe is great fun. They also advocate for responsible treatment of wildlife.
When I was working in the Ann Arbor area we always chose HSHV as one of our holiday charities to support. I can't say enough good things about them. They care for, and advocate for, ALL ANIMALS. They have instituted wonderful programs that enrich the lives of the animals in their care and also our communities. They have a wonderful staff and volunteers who truly care for the animals until they are adopted. We are so very fortunate to have such a wonderful organization in our community.
I have not adopted from here but have kept a watchful eye on it as it is local and I support local animal shelters!
My over all thoughts on them is that they are dedicated to the health and welfare of animals and do their best with what they have.
Love, love, love. Me and my boyfriend adopted Ash a little over 2 years ago. I love that dog. I love the love train and what the huron valley humane society does to help animals.
Thank you
I have never seen a HS work so hard to find homes for the animals in their care. They do an excellent job of finding great people to adopt. They pass on adopters' followup photos, showing the happy adoptees. I have never seen such a pro-active HS organization. I'd give them six stars if I could!
The staff are all excellent. I big shout out to the Cruelty Investigators and Emergency Rescue staff who depend on donations to do this lifesaving job. Also the TNR program is top notch.
They care for all the animals. t's a no kill shelter and a great benefit to the community. It's one of the few charities I give to generously. I love pets and so do they.
My daughter had a wonderful experience when she adopted a cat from the Humane Society Huron Valley a few years ago. Since then I’ve followed their site and see all the positive things they do for animals all over the US. They really are impressive!
Great place to adopt your furry family. Jake and KC both came from there and we had many years with them
This shelter is run with heart, love and compassion. They are a no-kill shelter. Not only are my husband and myself, donors, I am now a volunteer. They do amazing work for the community from rescuing abused animals, making them healthy, finding them homes and doing their best to see those who inflict cruelty punished, they have a program to provide food for dogs and cats to owners who can no longer afford it, in order to keep these families together. They bring puppies which are scheduled to be euthanized from the south on the Love Train. All are adopted, and treated, if necessary. Every puppy, dog, kitten and cat is well taken care of; loved even, until they find their forever home. I have adopted two dogs and a horse from the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

We have been supporters and donors of the Humane Society of Huron Valley for 30 years. We have adopted 2 dogs, and one horse from them. Their compassion, determination to ensure that those who abuse or neglect animals must surrender them and in many cases are prosecuted. The Love Train, which we have sponsored, rescues dogs (and cats, I believe) from high kill shelters in the South when they are scheduled to be euthanized. These beautiful animals! Our dog, Bliss came from Arkansas. Thanks to the HSHV, they find safe, loving and forever homes. They have programs for those who need help paying for medical care as well as food. There is no better organization for animal welfare.
In short, the Humane Society of Huron Valley is fantastic. They have many outreach programs, help local wildlife, host training sessions and offer support to families. They are on social media continually engaging with the public, creating trust, sense of community, visibility and transparency. The Humane Society of Huron valley is a leader and among the best of the best shelters for animals in the entire country. We adopted 2 dogs from them in 2014 and 2016 and supported them ever since, even after moving away from the area.
These amazing people put in so much love into their work it shows in everything they do. From caring for abandoned pets, finding them loving forever homes, and caring for their every need emotionally and physically until they finally get home. They even help people simply looking for advise such as vet recommendations, food, and care for their own pets. Truely selfless humans.
My family has adopted a puppy from Huron Valley Humane Society and received excellent help in picking out a puppy and learning about the breed. The people there are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this shelter to everyone.
Worked here as a volunteer a few years ago. HSHV keeps immaculate facilities with superb veterinary care for every animal it takes in. The staff and volunteers are extremely helpful, polite, friendly and ALWAYS smiling. I have been a monthly supporter for years just thinking that if something should ever happen to me my dogs will be in the best of hands.
They are the go-to place in the Detroit area for animal welfare. They take animals that come from shelters that euthanise and have amazing programs for adoption.
Everyone at HVHS is so friendly and dedicated to all of the animals (and people) they help. They are an important part of the community!
HSHV is great I have adopted manny animals from there and used their low cost veterinary clinic numerous times, everyone is nice and friendly and they take excellent care of the animals.
I adopted a feral cat with the purpose of having a barn cat to deal with rodents. I followed HSHV instructions on acclimating this cat to his new home. When I let Hobbes out of his 3 week quarantine, he was skittish in the house. Then he was introduced to the outdoors. I didn't expect to see him much. A couple of days later he returned and showed off his first mouse. And he wanted to come in the house. He made friends with my dog and they became BFFs.
This once feral cat has adopted my home and family and his permanent home. All thanks to the expertise provided by the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
They do such good work there.
Thank You!
HSHV is a great organization and the care of the animals is wonderful. Their volunteers are dedicated and loving as are the staff and vets.
As a volunteer, donor and adopter from HSHV, I can only give my highest recommendations to this organization. They are top-notch!
I am from the area having grown up in Dearborn and these guys are my favorite rescue facility. I follow them faithfully even now living in southern Indiana. They are the best
Amazing shelter. I adopted my dog from here. ❤️ They have a clean facility and take the best care of all the animals
It is a privilege to be a donor along with my wife at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. I am so impressed with how hard they work for animals.
I am a donor and have adopted three wonderful cats from HSHV. The dedication of staff and volunteers alike is deeply impressive.
I have been a volunteer, donor, and adopter. This shelter does an amazing job helping the animals of the community.
Proud of the work being done by so many for the animals, and proud to be a member of the organization’s Visionary Circle to help the most vulnerable.
Always impressed and moved by the outreach and rescue efforts of Humane Society of Huron Valley. The dedication and passion comes through in all it does, and I'm proud to support the organization and and the animals it cares for as much as I can.
As a volunteer. I saw just what a great place HSHV is. The staff there is great and the animals are well cared for. I have adopted dogs from them and they were the best! I also donate to help them keep up the great work they do!!

I moved back to Ann Arbor from Massachusetts three years ago. Prior to the move, I lost my beloved dog Maizie to lymphoma, following a siege with Cushing's disease and diabetes. When I began to look again for a dog to adopt, I found, to my great dismay and heartbreak that I had suddenly become allergic to dog dander. HSHV has been a life saver in that regard. I can visit, spend time with and give treats to dogs while I go through an allergy injection protocol that will allow me, I hope in the near future, to have a dog again. During this time, I've been able to interact with HSHV's staff and junior and senior volunteers, who are devoted to the welfare of animals who, through no fault of their own, find themselves alone, neglected, or otherwise in need. HSHV is dedicated to restoring the health and hope of these animals and finding them families that will give them the love they deserve. I've seen dogs who were shut down and fearful retain their trust in humans. I've seen dogs whose personalities blossomed under the care of HSHV's remarkable volunteers, including the young volunteers who are learning to be caring and responsible people. The facility itself is state-of-the-art, making the animals stay, whether short or long, the best it can possibly be outside of a loving home. While I wait to be able to have a dog again, and to become a volunteer myself, I give HSHV high marks for their service in saving lives.
Took my cat Sheba to be spayed at the low cost clinic. They took amazing care of her, even though the cost was only $25. Even after care was free. They’re an awesome group, and one of the few no kill shelters here in Michigan. I donate by choosing them as my non-profit group on smile.amazon.com (totally free by the way) and send donations from their wish list at tax time. They even create little wheelchairs for paralyzed animals. How amazing is that?! Highly recommend them!
An excellent shelter, excellent staff! They find homes for all their rescues, Big and small, take in farm stock and wildlife in need of assistance, find them homes or return them to the wild. Beautiful facility. Sometimes it’s so busy you can’t find a parking spot!
I came there to adopt a puppy after I saw the love train I had to work till 2 and was worried she wouldn’t still be there so my husband came there as soon as they opened and explained the situation and Huron valley was kind enough to hold her till I got there. I love this place and the workers are awesome
HSHV leadership and team are exemplary! Their life affirming philosophy is evident in the true fulfillment of their mission, to save lives. I have been a donor and TNR volunteer with HSHV since 2011. Their TNR program is a best practice and by far one of the best in the country. I myself have brought in over 225 felines through their program for spay/ neuter, shots and any medical care they may require, and many were taken into their shelter for adoption. Since the inception of their program over ten years ago they have spayed/neutered over 11,000 felines, saving tens of thousands of lives, and giving many a second chance at a loving home. I’ve been affiliated with other shelters, and resigned from one board. Not all shelters have life affirming leadership, and HSHV does. I am proud to be a volunteer for HSHV!

HSHV started a TNR (trap, neuter, return) program for community felines 10 years ago to help the felines that are abandoned by irresponsible owners. The model program trains volunteers and assists colony caretakers in humanely trapping the felines and providing spay/neuter, shots and health care and assists the feline caretakers with setting up outdoor housing with straw bedding and food stations . This program was ground breaking and since its inception intakes of homeless felines into the shelter have been reduced by 32%. This means that thousands of healthy felines are saved from euthanasia and spared the harsh, cruel life of of living on the streets. The felines that are abandoned often become weary of humans and therefore are not adoptable, but prefer to live their life outdoors, in their familiar area, under the care and watchful eye of their caretakers. I have been a volunteer in this program since 2013, and I can tell you that the amazing colony caretakers across the Metro Detroit area who care for these felines are truly grateful for HSHV's program to help them care for their colonies, stop the reproduction cycle, keep them healthy and let them live their life out as they know it. This program is the only one like it that I am aware of with a designated TNR room that is heated and air conditioned, provides food, water and potty pads for the felines that come in for spay/neuter. The felines come in and are housed in a clean, comfortable room, they are spayed the next day and after a 24 hour recovery period are returned to their caretakers, who anxiously await their return. In addition, HSHV is an open admission shelter with a 96% save rate. The leadership and staff are amazing and they have a life affirming philosophy that is truly in the best interest of the animals that come through their doors. I am proud to be a volunteer for HSHV and I thank them for all they do for our animals.
