I've been recently very impressed with a local TNR project addressing strays. This organization shows admirable consistency in their approach to animal rescue. The group continues what they have always displayed, namely a very high level of knowledge, professionalism, and good practice in its dealings on all fronts -- with donors and with the community of pet owners and rescuers.
H&S helps local shelters, rescuers and low incom epet owners through various initiatives designed to address community issues that frequently are overlooked. I have contributed to their programs since I met them last year at an adoption event in SoHo. The program that is most unique is the food bank for pet owners who would otherwise lose thier pet due to stressful economic times. I was also impressed with their TNR activities. More than one friend has adopted from Hiss & Spit and they hae been uniformly pleased with the treatment they received from the organization. My imporession is that H&S practices what it preaches. In my experience, there's a very high level of professionalism shown by this organization in its dealings with donors and with the community of pet owners and rescuers.
