We are a non-profit organization that provides HUD-subsidized housing for independent seniors and handicapped residents. For the past 16 years I have hosted Thanks- sgiving dinner for residents. For the past 5 years I've contacted Hands On Bay Area for volunteers to help set up, serve, and clean up on Thanksgiving. If it weren't for Hands On Bay Area volunteers, I would be doing this event on my own, as I did pre-HOBA. I was so delighted the first year volunteers came to help. I couldn't believe how efficient, helpful and happy these people were. Each year since, the same types of lovely people come to help me help my residents, and I'm still delighted and in awe of the spirit of the HOBA volunteers. I am happy to have this venue to thank all those people who continue to give so much of themselves on this very special holiday.
I have secured the most amazing volunteers from Hands On Bay Area. I am the Care Services, Family Event & Volunteer manager at Support for Families of Children with Disabilities in San Francisco's Mission District and produce 4 family events a year. HOBA volunteers are consistantly reliable, hard-working & pleasant who go beyond the call of duty. I am always impressed by the level of organization they bring to our events and I will continue to request them in the future. Our non-profit in the Mission helps families and children with any kind of health issue of disability, connecting them with services and resources they need. Our family events are a way for families to network and have fun with their children in a way that may not be possible at other community gatherings.
