Mission: The primary purpose of greysave is to facilitate the adoptions of greyhounds, those whose racing careers have ended, and those who have been abandoned or who are unwanted. To positively impact the welfare of greyhounds, to educate the public about greyhounds, their appeal as pets, and their care.
Programs: In 2017 111 greyhounds entered our program. All were transported directly from racetracks. Including 16 with broken legs. All dogs were health checked, spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Some had injuries ranging from minor wounds to severe fractures requiring surgery. Blood work is also done on all dogs and any illnesses such as a tick borne disease are treated. Once the dogs have completed our foster home program they are placed up for adoption.
Besides fostering an involved, caring environment on its Facebook page, GreySave has incredible heart! The female Greyhound I agreed to foster was found to have ovarian cancer when she was spayed. That was three years ago and I have since adopted her which GreySave made an easy decision for me when it committed to pay for her treatment for the rest of her life. I have come close to losing her a few times since then and each time when I've checked in with them regarding the treatment plan the response has always been to do whatever it takes to save her. That's my personal experience but there are many examples of GreySave going above and beyond to save a Greyhound. No Greyhound is left behind that is lucky enough to cross paths with this wonderful organization.
